FAQ

What is a micro-lock?

A micro-lock is half an extension divided vertically. It is advisable to use micro-locks for areas with scarce hair, such as outlines and temples. Thus, the result is more natural and the extension will go unnoticed.

What type of weld is the most advisable for keratin extensions?

There are two types of weld: the round and the flat ones. When you use a hot-welding machine, keratin melts and the job is finished with the fingers making a round movement, so the remaining weld is cone-shaped. If you use a cold-working machine, keratin expands in a more controlled, it is more crystal-like and the job is cleaner. The keratin has less volume at the root because the weld is flat.

What temperature must I set in the extensions machine?

The MyHair Heat machine can be regulated at a 180º C temperature if we are working with human hair, and 130º-150º C if we are working with fibre hair.

Can extensions be bleached?

The hair of the extensions is natural, so it can undergo any treatment that you would normally apply to your own hair. However, due to the fact that it has been processed, it does not respond in the same way as our hair because it does not feed naturally and is inert hair. The process of dying the hair of the extensions is complex; for this reason Sangrá has a wide range of natural colour where each client can always find those that better suit her.

What is the difference between the locks with keratin and bulk hair?

The locks that have been treated with keratin can be applied directly to the hair by means of welding tweezers. On the other hand, when using bulk hair, you must first think how you want to apply it to the client: with silicon, keratin nails, plaits… It is a slower and more elaborated work, in which, besides, not all hair is always used because a lot falls during the application.

How are keratin extensions removed?

Extensions can be removed easily and quickly: you only need to apply some drops of Disol-G dissolvent on the keratin, press it with the extraction tweezers until keratin melts and pull the lock gently while holding the client’s hair.

How are rastas applied?

Rastas are applied in the same way as a lock with keratin. We must bear in mind that rastas are made of fibre, so they must be applied with a lower temperature than human hair. A temperature between 120º and 130º C is recommended.

What are the advantages of a cold-working machine when compared to a hot-weld machine?

A cold-weld machine allows a quicker and cleaner work than the hot one, because it is programmed for the tweezers to say when the extension must be applied to the hair and when to remove the tweezers. Moreover, it leaves a flat and invisible weld, which gives us a completely natural aspect.

How must extensions be taken care of?

Keratin extensions require great care. When we dry our hair, we must do so with cold air in the keratin, since if we used hot air, it would become soft and it would last less. We must always wash our hair with moisturising products, due to the fact that the hair of the extension is inert and it does not regenerate; therefore it needs special care. Sangrá, thinking about this need, has created the perfect ally for the extensions, wigs and hairpieces: it is the ‘g-line’ made up by shampoo, balsam and serum. They give back the natural gloss to the hair and they regenerate it from the tips.

Why do extensions fall?

This can be due to several reasons:
- They were not applied correctly.
- At the moment of the application an air bubble remains there through which water can filter and wet the hair.
- At the moment of the application hair was not clean and dry.
To make sure that the extensions are going to remain in the hair for a long time, they have to be kept properly with moisturizing products and above all, not applying a hot-air drier where the keratin is.

How many locks are necessary to make hair longer?

The hairdresser, as a specialist in hair, has to determine the amount after studying carefully her client’s characteristics. The number of extensions will depend on the quantity; it is advisable to use between 100 and 130 extensions to make hair longer. If hair is abundant, we may apply between 150 and 180 extensions.

How must fibre hair be taken care of?

We must wash it with cold water and very gently, because the direction of the wash may entangle the fibre. We must let it dry on its own or with cold air so that fibre is not damaged.
